Will the Trump Messiah Save Us from Hostilities in Israel and Gaza, or Will the Peace Deal Fall Apart?
All hail who Israelis are calling the new Cyrus the Great and the messiah! President Donald Trump has alone freed the Jews from the oppression of Hamas, which has no military power to speak of, and brought a “lasting” peace to the Middle East. This “greatest friend” to Israel should be celebrated across the land, and all of those who criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his genocide of Palestinians should now repent of their sins and forget about the tragedy that has already occurred. Our savior Trump has amended all wrongs, and the regime responsible for the slaughter of more than 67,173 Gazans (20,179 of which were children), the displacement of almost 2 million civilians (some multiple times), the starvation of thousands, and the complete obliteration of the Gaza Strip should just be allowed to get away with everything without any accountability, because peace has arrived (yippee!). According to the pro-Israeli propaganda, you are a sympathizer of Hamas, an anti-Semite, and a Trump-hater if you stay silent about the peace deal and do not believe that it is the best thing since sliced bread (just like you were anti-science or pro-Putin if you opposed the COVID-19 or Ukrainian narratives); but is all the hype worth the praise?
Of course, on the surface, this seems great. We get all of the headlines and the emotional stories about twenty Israeli prisoners reuniting with their families (and some mention the 1,900 Palestinian prisoners, who just like those under the care of brutal Hamas forces were also allegedly mistreated and tortured by the Israeli government), and who does not like a good story with a happy ending? The world will unite and commit $53 billion toward Egypt’s postwar plan to rebuild Gaza, and a fifteen-member committee of “Palestinian technocrats” will be approved by Israel to govern the territory in the absence of Hamas (Hamas will be permanently removed from governance, which is a good thing).
The Phase 1 prisoner swap and plans to have Israel withdraw from Gaza have been almost completed, and “The Trump Declaration for Enduring Peace and Prosperity” has been addressed to the Israeli Knesset (equivalent of Congress in the United States) and signed into existence. At the request of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Netanyahu found himself “absent” from the meeting under the guise of celebrating the Jewish holiday (those countries threatened to boycott the meeting if he attended). Everything turned out splendid, right? Well, as much as a peace deal between Israel and Gaza is welcomed, we must be cautious, as things are often not what they seem. If President Trump ends up having pure intentions and negotiated this deal with the interests of Gazans at heart, great, but that remains to be seen.
One way that we can be fairly certain that intentions are not pure is from the president’s recent statement: “If they [Hamas] don’t disarm, we will disarm them. And it will happen quickly and perhaps violently.” These are not the words of a neutral diplomat who is interested in giving the most fair deal possible to both sides, and especially after bombing Iran to appease the Netanyahu regime (in addition to sending the military to intimidate Venezuela and bomb boats in the Caribbean Sea), the president does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize (to be fair, no United States president does, and Barack Obama somehow accepted the award before he proceeded to bomb Libya and several other countries). This statement was a threat to one side, and as we know, President Trump has been extremely biased in favor of the Israeli government, even to the point of praising Miriam Adelson, who contributed $106 million to the Trump campaign and has frequented the White House to push Israeli interests (even over those of the American people).
Another reason that we know this peace deal is either going to fall apart or has a secret agenda under the surface is that the corporate media is out in full force ensuring that Americans know that Hamas is already not living up to its end of the bargain. The first claim was that the terrorist organization was publicly executing people on the streets who it believes are “criminals and collaborators with Israel.” Of course, no evidence was provided for this, but regardless, President Trump authorized Hamas to temporarily take control of the security of Gaza, including cleaning up the streets in the way that it feels is appropriate, so if these executions turn out to be true, there is really nobody to blame because that was part of the negotiations (it would be entrapment for the Trump administration to permit Hamas’ behavior and then send in troops to punish it).
Additionally, because Hamas has only thus far (give it some time, geez) released twenty-four out of the forty-four agreed upon dead hostages (bodies), Israel is considering this a violation of the agreement and cutting the number of aid trucks permitted into Gaza in half and deciding not to reopen the Rafah border crossing (at least for now). Besides utilizing political retribution as a tactic to continue the starvation of the Palestinian people, this sort of indicates that the Netanyahu regime is not wholehearted in its approach (plus, if peace ensues, Benjamin Netanyahu may have to face the corruption charges that he was indicted on before October 7th, so in order to stay in power, he may need to prolong this war and undermine any negotiations). This is not to say that Hamas is not intentionally delaying the process, but Israel seems uninterested in negotiating without putting conditions on its enemy, and under these conditions, the peace deal cannot last long-term. Israel can find some technicality that will undermine peace, and then when Hamas does something that is not to its liking, it can say: see, we tried peace, but the evil terrorists did not abide by the agreement, so we have to go back to slaughtering the Palestinians and obliterating what is left of Gaza. The corporate media will then flood in the propaganda that Hamas caused the ceasefire to fall apart, and Americans will be persuaded that Gaza needs to be rebuilt under the image of what the Israelis prefer.
President Trump has already announced that the United States military will be sending 200 troops into Gaza to “support and monitor” the deal through a “civil-military coordination center” that will be responsible for directing aid and providing security, and I think the astute observer could see that this is a gateway for an American intervention in the territory. I seem to recall that American troops in Ukraine were providing something similar, but come to find out, they were doing a bit more than that and indirectly killing Russians and engaging in special operations.
Let us assume for a moment that the American troops in Gaza will simply be doing what is stated. What happens when the deal does break apart and chaos ensues? The president will then have his justification for directly engaging with Hamas militarily, and Americans will then be conditioned to accept that their troops will be required in the territory indefinitely. Instead of a two-state solution, we may end up seeing Israel permanently occupy the land and turn it into the beach resort town that President Trump mentioned back in February (Netanyahu has already stated that he wants the Gazans relocated to Egypt, and perhaps South Sudan). This peace deal would give the perception that diplomacy has been attempted, but in reality, it will be utilized as justification for the ceding of the territory to Israel proper.
Maybe I am being too skeptical, but time will tell. After all, we are talking about the same Israeli government that violated the previous ceasefire in Gaza and just recently bombed Iran and the United States’ ally, Qatar. This prompted President Trump to issue an executive order, bypassing the Senate and unilaterally creating a treaty, to ensure that the Persian Gulf nation is protected from future bombings, and the United States military is opening up a facility at Mountain Home Airbase in Idaho for Qatari pilots to train on American soil (oh, swell).
This is also the same Netanyahu regime that has resorted to paying (largely via Bridge Partners) social media content creators (particularly those on TikTok) $6,000-$7,000 dollars per post to persuade young people to support Israel, especially after many posts started circulating about how Charlie Kirk feared that Israel-aligned forces would try to kill him right before the assassination. A separate program (through Clock Tower X LLC) dedicates $6 million to target American audiences on behalf of the State of Israel, and what is worse yet is that the Israeli government has created (with a price tag of $4.1 million) an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based program to “geofence” (an advertisement strategy that locates people in a specific area based off of their cellphone data) Christian churches and colleges throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado in order to feed people’s devices with pro-Israeli and anti-Palestinian content, essentially spying on churchgoers when they attend weekly service. Many of these Esther Project-like propaganda-spreading operations are being conducted in conjunction with former Trump campaign strategist Brad Parscale (another American-Israeli collaboration).
If this peace deal ends up being everything that everyone thinks that it will be, and Trump is this giant hero to be celebrated, I will be delighted, but I simply do not see that happening. Regardless, we should pursue peace in the Middle East, and for that, I will give the president some kudos. However, the primary mediator in this conflict is biased toward one of the sides, and the main negotiator has received millions of lobbying dollars from Israeli donors and continues to send billions of our taxpayer dollars to support the Israeli government (of course, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, and Turkey, or Turkiye, or whatever this country is going by these days, were part of the negotiations as well). This hardly sounds like a recipe for enduring peace, but we will see.
