Will Donald Trump’s Second Presidency Lead to the Fascism that the Left Believes It Will?
The 2024 presidential election took an unexpected turn, and as dissident voice Alex Jones predicted, Donald Trump won in a landslide victory that had him take every single swing state (Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada). In fact, even in the ultra-liberal states that Kamala Harris won, the trends moved significantly closer to Trump than they did in 2020. For example, in New York, Harris only won by approximately 900,000 votes and carried the state by a ratio of 55.5% to 43.9%, which is a change from Joe Biden’s win of approximately 61% to 38%. Not only did Trump win 312 electoral votes to Harris’ 226 in the race to 270 and took the popular vote 75 million to 72 million, but the Senate and House of Representatives will soon be under the Republican Party’s control come January (with a majority conservative Supreme Court). Does Trump now have a mandate to rule with impunity, or will the Democratic Party find creative ways to counter and undermine the president’s authority?
Liberals and progressives across the country are very upset about Trump’s victory and believe that the next president will become a fascist dictator who will throw transgender people, illegal immigrants, and those who speak out against his agenda in concentration camps. During Trump’s first term, he did remove protections against discrimination of transgender people in the healthcare setting and prohibited the same group from participation in the military, and as part of his Agenda 47 (not Project 2025), he plans to reverse Joe Biden’s policies on gender-affirming care for children (such procedures delay the natural cycle of puberty in order to play into the child’s preferred gender fantasies at that moment in time). According to polls, most Americans do not favor allowing elementary schools to encourage or instruct children on transforming into another gender or permitting biological males to compete in female sports (or vice versa). Most of these transgender issues affect children, as almost all supporters of Trump acknowledge and accept that adults can do whatever they please (though, the government should not be using taxpayer dollars to encourage it or implement procedures), so when liberals claim that transgender rights are being threatened, what they really mean is that governments will not allow children to make such life-altering choices before they reach adulthood (just like children cannot do much of anything until they turn eighteen years old). So, if liberals are going to equate prohibitions against medical procedures for minors as throwing people in concentration camps, I guess Trump is guilty as charged.
Although Donald Trump has pledged to implement a mass-deportation operation of illegal immigrants, even many Democrats ran on a platform to secure the border from dangerous immigrants. Conservatives are not suggesting that legal immigrants should be expelled or that citizens or asylum seekers should be given a change in their current immigration status, but rather, these policies would simply affect those who have broken the law and snuck through the border (or overstayed their visas). However, President Barack Obama rounded up a record number of illegal immigrants during his two terms, and mass detention centers were largely built under his administration, so why was Obama not classified as a fascist by leftists? However, Trump did enact separation policies (allowing children to be taken away from their parents) and the so-called “children in cages” plan, which could be considered the implementation of concentration camps. Of course, it is not acceptable to take such extreme measures and have children die because the conditions in the camps were abhorrent, and from that perspective, you could make the argument that Trump’s policies on immigration will mimic and even surpass those during the first term. Again, these are people who should not have been in the country in the first place, but at the same time, it is inhumane to treat any human being in such a manner. On top of that, Trump has promised to use the military, National Guard, and agencies within the federal government to round up undocumented migrants. First, they condition the populace to accept militarization with illegal immigrants, and then, eventually, they come after the rest of the people (even if it is down the road and after Trump is no longer in office). Unfortunately, there is a real chance of abuse of power in this area of politics, but we will see if anything substantial occurs.
As far as waging a war against his political opponents, there is no evidence to suggest that he will target the so-called “enemy from within” (a slogan that was taken out of context, like usual). If he were to threaten free speech and arrest social commentators and pundits for opposing Trump’s agenda, very few Americans, including conservatives, would put up with such tyranny, and there is no reason to believe that he would do so. However, he may initiate court proceedings (with due process) against bureaucrats and politicians who have broken laws and committed acts of atrocities against the American people (like former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci and his pushing of the pharmaceutical industry’s medical product for “curing” COVID-19). During the 2016 campaign, Trump pledged to prosecute Hillary Clinton, if elected, and yet, he left her alone and did not seek political blood. Even if Trump were to go after his political opponents in his next term, the Democratic Party has spent years delegitimizing his presidency and aiming at him, from initiating false allegations of collusion with Russia to spying on his campaign to censoring his supporters’ posts through social media corporations to manipulating the narrative against his character to charging him with bogus criminal indictments to attempting to eliminate him from ballot access to attempting to assassinate him. Politically targeting Democrats would be nothing more than mirroring their actions against him, but even so, the tit-for-tat retributive justice is not something that should be advocated for or carried out. Trump needs to be the bigger man here and offer an olive branch to his enemies. If he does not, his enemies will certainly paint him as the fascist that they believe he is.
However, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James (who, in addition to campaigning on politically targeting Trump, went after him in a civil lawsuit to steal his money) are preparing legal, regulatory, and policy contingency plans (Empire State Freedom Initiative) to challenge and undermine the next president, under the guise of protecting New Yorkers from his evil rule and policies on the environment, abortion, the LGBTQ community, and immigration. California Governor Gavin Newsom put together a special session of the state legislature to “Trump-proof” the state when the new president takes office. I wonder what would have happened if Republican governors did the same thing in the alternate scenario where Harris won? The corporate media, Biden administration, and incoming president would have called them fascist and anti-democratic (and taken legal action), but somehow, when liberal governors do this, it is perfectly acceptable, because they erroneously consider Trump as some type of unique threat.
It is peculiar that many of the supposed 81 million voters for Joe Biden in 2020 stayed home in this supposed record-breaking voter turnout year. Trump got only slightly more votes than he did in 2020 and still won this time, but guys, there were absolutely no fraudulent ballots in 2020. 81 million was an anomaly based on the pattern of voter trends, but hey, we just need to blindly accept that 10-20 million votes are missing for 2024.
Either way, the liberals’ and progressives’ method for mentally dealing with this loss is to blame everyone but themselves. In fact, many liberal commentators have taken to social media to say that Trump only won because Americans are racist and sexist and do not want a woman of color running the country, and then, the more astute ones will sometimes also hint at the fact that Trump was a populist and that people voted for him because Biden “miraculously” cleaned up the economy for them to have Trump undeservedly ride the train of economic success (they will not admit that government policies, including the Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing and Biden’s massive spending, helped cause inflation). Of course, voters were sick and tired of Bidenomics and the high prices, but these leftists will argue that Americans are too stupid to see the “reality” that Biden’s economy is better than the United States has ever seen. Yet, we do not see this when we go to the grocery or retail stores to shop for essential products (I guess our eyes are too stupid to see the price tags).
Liberals have gone completely mad in the wake of the news that their enemy would again ascend to the American throne. Aside from the absurd conspiracy theory that somehow Elon Musk used his magical Starlink satellites to hack into the election infrastructure and steal the election from Kamala Harris, they seem to think that Donald Trump will become a “dictator on day one” (another slogan taken out of context, gee surprise). To them, Trump will become a strongman along the lines of Adolph Hitler, but then, my question to them would be: if you genuinely believe that, why would you not do anything in your power to stop him instead of complaining on social media or continuing to live your lives like Harris had won? If you could go back in time and stop Hitler before he did the horrific genocidal things that he did, would you still sit idly by? Why would you not challenge the election results or storm the Capitol, as January 6th protesters did? Is it because deep down you do not believe your own rhetoric and are only parroting liberal talking points? Of course, let us not put it past the Left to stage a coup against Trump, prevent the certification of electors, start World War III or a civil war to cause chaos during the transition of power, wage a legal battle to somehow prevent Trump from taking office, or outright assassinate him (it has already been tried twice).
And, news flash to the “Trump is Hitler” crowd: the United States already has fascist elements within its current system of government. Our ultra-nationalism, which is tied to rallying citizens around the flag in support of never-ending wars and the military-industrial complex, has gradually eroded our rights, including free speech and privacy, and led to the targeting of political dissidents (such as Alex Jones, Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, and Trump and his supporters). The merging of government and corporate power and our revolving door of unelected bureaucratic oligarchs (the experts) ruling over our daily lives are nothing short of the fascism that leftists claim is unique to Trump. The irony is that these so-called “anti-fascist” types and Trump haters support everything that I listed above (including the military-industrial complex that progressives used to oppose before Trump started speaking out against it, and now, they feel obligated to support whatever Trump opposes). Dismantling the fascist bureaucratic deep state is actually taking away power from government, not consolidating it to one leader.
Because liberals and progressives spent years labeling Trump and his supporters as fascists, racists, sexists, and any other negative “ists” that they could think of and targeting their political opponents, they now have to deal with their enemy taking power. Hopefully, this will be a lesson, wake-up call, and time for self-reflection, but I have my doubts, as they have already taken to finding every excuse under the book for their loss. If they continue to maintain their elitist attitude and moral superiority over the rest of us, they will continue to lose.
Unfortunately, though, we have seen hints that Donald Trump will continue the status quo foreign policy, as he has seemingly selected neoconservative and war hawk Florida Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State. This combined with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu being excited at Trump’s return may bring about more funding and weapons transfers to the genocide against Palestinians and the continued Middle East wars that may lead to a hot conflict with Iran. A Secretary of State Rubio may even convince Trump to abandon a potential peace deal between Russia and Ukraine and continue sending money and weapons to both Ukraine and Taiwan. Although Hamas in Gaza (if Trump can recognize a Palestinian state), the Houthis in Yemen (if Trump stops unconditional support for Israel), and China have suggested that a Trump administration may be able to broker diplomatic relations across the world and end current conflicts, we should be skeptical about who Trump is surrounding himself with and who he listens to for advice. The people elected Trump partially because they wanted fewer wars and more diplomacy. Going right back to his previous hawkish policies would not create the change that people want to see.
Will the second Trump administration be a continuation of his first presidency, or will he shake up the system (or at least start the process) by halting the reign of tyranny brought to us by the deep state and the government-corporate control of our lives under an elitist class of experts? Will he pardon whistleblowers and political dissidents (such as the January 6th rioters and trespassers) and reveal documents showing what really happened during the John F. Kennedy assassination or the 9-11 “al Qaeda” attacks (with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., JFK’s nephew, involved in the administration, perhaps answers to these questions will be resolved)? Will Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, actually slash government waste and abuse, decrease regulations, and consolidate bureaucratic entities into simpler forms (I am wary of creating a new department that gives more power to government, and this also has the potential to lead to a conflict of interest, as Elon Musk could cut regulations that end up benefiting his businesses)? Will former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard, who was censored and targeted by government agencies, be able to chain up and restrict our out-of-control intelligence community in her new role as director of national intelligence? Will out-spoken critique of government-corporate collusion in censoring conservatives Matt Gaetz, as attorney general, be a successful voice for Americans who have had their posts eliminated because they were inconvenient to the official narrative? Will Kash Patel be able to keep the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in line and from targeting Americans who have dissenting views? Will Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. be able to eliminate chemicals banned in Europe from reaching our food and poisoning us so that pharmaceutical companies can profit?
Time will tell if Trump becomes the fascist dictator that liberals and progressives fear, but even if he does, those who voted for him out of a convenient alliance in order to increase peace and lower the cost of daily items would not stand by as he usurped power and sent his enemies off to concentration camps or deployed the military to round up people in American cities. We need to remember that Trump could have become a dictator during the COVID-19 crisis and consolidated power at a time when most people were afraid and wanted more authoritarian policies, and yet, he did no such thing and left the states alone to administer their own authoritarian polices instead. Plus, with establishment Republican John Thune chosen as the upcoming Senate majority leader (establishment Republicans are not so different from establishment Democrats), it is unlikely that Trump would get much of what he actually wants done legislatively, including an end to the funding to Ukraine (and Marco Rubio may also assist in keeping the cold war with Russia and the road toward a hot war with Iran going), so this is a political check on Trump’s presidency.
As much as I downgrade the fear that most liberals and progressives have because it is completely unwarranted, I do understand where they are coming from. They do not want to see massive changes to the establishment and bureaucracy, but in time, they will learn that those things were not good for us anyway. And, I cannot say that I have not considered their fears of a fascist dictatorship under Trump possibly becoming reality, but if that were to happen, we the people would have to stand together, liberal and conservative, to fight back the tyranny. It is up to us to keep government in check, and under a Trump administration, it will become my duty (along with countless other commentators) to hold the new government accountable and report on violations of the Constitution and the rights of the people.
