The Biden administration was dealt a tough blow last week when the contents of a highly classified set of documents made their way to the American public, and although some of the documents had apparently been sitting online unnoticed, it was not until the corporate and alternative medias started reporting on it that it became a story that the federal government had to address. An arrest of Airman 1st Class Jack Teixeira seems to have satisfied officials, and we can now go on ignoring the story in the mainstream media like it never happened. Stand with Ukraine. Keep flying those blue and yellow flags in your yards and on Facebook profile pictures. The whole conflict is a lie, but even with the document leaks, there is no need to question what is going on around us. At least we got a week or so where the public saw a glimpse of the truth and the lies and manipulation of the United States government in global affairs. That is better than nothing.
Instead of denying the validity of the content of the documents, the Biden administration doubled down on finding and arresting the twenty-one-year old leaker, and so it would seem pretty clear that those documents, which display classification marks that are unmistakable in the intelligence world, were legitimate. However, there is some speculation and indications from officials that a few of them may have been altered. On March 1st and 2nd, some of the documents may have been posted on the Discord server WowMao, before making their way on March 4th to Minecraft Earth Map (a Discord server for the videogame, and the documents allegedly remained there until April 7th) and then to 4chan, Twitter, and Telegram. The issue to officials was not that the content distributed showed that they were lying to the public, but rather, they were embarrassed and upset that they were caught in their lies.
It is ironic that we condemn Russia and China for imprisoning dissidents and journalists, and yet, the Department of Justice (DoJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) were looking to do the exact same thing in this case (after the Department of Defense, or DoD, turned to the FBI for the investigation). In the end, though, it appears that The Washington Post and The New York Times were able to beat the FBI to the chase by interviewing someone in the Thug Shaker Central group (going by screen name “Vahki”), and it was suggested that Teixeira was not a whistleblower. He might have been someone looking for attention among his peers.
Even he leaked the documents for less noble purposes, how was it that two news agencies were able to find out who the leaker was before the FBI? Was this a setup, and the whole ordeal was orchestrated for a purpose? The FBI is full of entrapment schemes, so it seems very plausible. Why was the information blasted all over the mainstream media, but when Seymour Hersh reported on the Biden administration’s destruction of the Nord Stream pipelines, there was absolutely no coverage? It is like the government wanted this leak to circulate, but then on the other hand, it wanted to make it clear that such a thing is not to be tolerated.
Immediately following the release, the primary procedures were conducting a militarized manhunt, censoring the information, and ensuring that any future potential whistleblowers were intimidated into not doing something similar in the future. Apparently, the Five Eyes (consisting of the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand) were concerned about the dissemination of the information and future leaks, and Ukraine had brought up such fears previously.
Just like with Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, and Bradley (Chelsea) Manning, the federal government needs to spend our taxpayer dollars to punish journalists and whistleblowers exposing the truth. Do this, and you will be hunted down like an animal. I do not want to pay for the massive military and intelligence apparatus that we have in place as it is, but now, I also have to pay for the arrest of truth tellers who are revealing the corruption in the very same system that I already do not approve of. Well, guess what, President Biden and your bureaucratic secret police? You got what you wanted. Teixeira will be convicted under the Espionage Act and spend the rest of his life in prison. Congratulations! You are heroes for ruining a kid’s life and censoring the truth and lying to us about what is really happening.
What is really happening, though. Well, if you read the headlines of the corporate media, you will leave with the impression that the Ukrainian military is valiantly pushing back the Russian troops and are winning the war with a one-to-one kill ratio (or more than that). Yet, the leaked documents seem to suggest that the Russians have only suffered around 16,000 to 17,500 losses, while the Ukrainians have about 71,000 casualties (some estimates have it at 43,000 Russian casualties to 131,000 Ukrainian ones); and the United States government is concerned that Ukraine’s air defenses and weaponry are being depleted beyond repair. This is our hard-earned tax dollars being used to prolong the war so that the military-industrial complex can benefit (and according to journalist Seymour Hersh, Ukrainian officials and generals are “skimming” millions of American-funded dollars that were “earmarked for diesel fuel payments”), and considering that Ukraine plans to recapture Crimea and all of Donetsk and Luhansk, it becomes clear that the Biden administration will shell out as much money as it wants toward the war effort and corruption of Ukrainian officials. The stalemate that is occurring may last for quite some time, and when you hear officials touting Ukrainian wins against a weakened Russia, you will know that they are lying to you and that they are not actually confident that Ukraine can win. In fact, the corporate media has been lying about the conflict since the beginning. With this in mind, why should we have faith in anything that is reported about the war in the mainstream?
The document leaks also provide us with an inside look at the Russian forces and the use of mercenaries for most of its fighting. For example, over 70% (or about 22,000) of the Russian forces fighting in the symbolic town of Bakhmut belong to the Wagner Group. This means that Russia has not even had to utilize its main military forces, and if the mercenaries can inflict that many casualties on the Ukrainians and keep the defenders from winning in Bakhmut, what does this say about if the Russians were to release their large full-time military onto the battlefield?
Some of us have suspected for a long time that the United States had special forces troops operating inside of Ukraine and that the operations may have been directed at the Russian military. The leaked documents confirm this, and it appears that the United States has fourteen such troops on special missions (in addition to the 100 troops officially stationed in the embassy for weapon accountability and aid distribution). Interestingly, the United Kingdom has fifty special forces operatives, Latvia has seventeen, France has fifteen, and the Netherlands has one. The United States and the United Kingdom are also conducting surveillance and reconnaissance operations over Poland, Romania, and the Black Sea (remember when a U.S. drone was shot down over the sea?). What happens if Russian soldiers kill NATO troops inside of Ukraine? Does this mean that Article 5 must be invoked and all of NATO must amass their armies for a hot war with Russia? Are we just opening the flood gates toward World War III? Either way, the Biden administration told us that there were no American boots on the ground, but we now know that that was a lie.
It was also revealed that Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered his special forces agents to conduct airstrikes within Belarus and Russia, thus antagonizing his neighbors and potentially escalating the war. Being that the United States is providing intelligence to Kiev, attacks against Belarus may not only drag that country overtly into the war on the side of Russia, but it may indicate that the United States is indirectly responsible for attacks on both Russia and Belarus. Even if American intelligence is keeping closer tabs on Russia than it is on Ukraine, warning the Ukrainians of imminent Russian strikes is helping to prolong the war. Additionally, if Russia spies on the United States or hacks into American systems, it would be hypocritical to condemn it, since the United States is conducting similar operations against Russia.
Another disturbing piece of information emerging from the leaks is that Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El Sisi has plans, including orders for manufacturing, to send 40,000 rockets to Russia for its war against Ukraine. An American ally, which receives welfare checks accumulating to tens of billions of dollars, is potentially aiding the United States’ enemy, and as a result, President Biden is likely funding both sides of the war. Although this is not unprecedented (look at the funding of al-Qaeda-linked groups in Syria, the Iran-Iraq War, or the fact that American weapons intended for Ukraine have fallen in the hands of Russians and eventually become reverse engineered by Iran), we should start to question the intentions of those pushing this war. If the Biden administration is funding both sides of the war, could this be because it wants to secretly keep the corporate profits flowing?
Speaking of American allies, we know from the Edward Snowden revelations that the United States spies on its allies, including former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, so the fact that it was revealed in these new leaks that the United States was spying on Zelensky and his government, Israel, and South Korea should come as no surprise. What was new about the leaks was that the Biden administration pressured Israel and South Korea to provide Ukraine with weapons and ammunition, but overall, this concept should not shock anyone either.
Although it is not uncommon for young people to gain top secret clearances based on the specifics of one’s job (I easily obtained a secret clearance in my early twenties), some argue that Teixeira, as a member of the Massachusetts National Guard, should not have had a top secret clearance or that he was too easily able to obtain the top secret documents. The idea is that members of the Biden administration, or particularly Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Millie, intentionally allowed the guardsman to leak the documents, perhaps because they know that it is impossible for Ukraine to win and want to prepare the public for the humiliation, or because the military wants to expose President Biden’s policies that are leading us toward World War III and prevent such a scenario.
It seems whether the leaks were intentional or not that they will be used to further some sort of domestic agenda. Will they lead to increased regulations or bans against Discord or other online platforms? I have written about what the upcoming Restrict Act may do, so this seems like a good excuse to put this sort of idea into practice. Could the FBI be looking to censor even more information and to label those who oppose the Ukraine narrative as enemies of the state? The Biden administration has been utilizing social media companies to prohibit unfavorable narratives, and the FBI is increasing monitoring of pro-Trump, conservative, and libertarian voices. Will there be a crackdown on free speech? Could Teixeira just be the scapegoat for the War on Domestic Terrorism that is in the works?
