The United States and Iran continued to exchange fire during the last week of June, despite a supposed ceasefire being in place. The United States claimed that Iran utilized a drone to attack Panama-flagged tanker MT Kiku, while Iran claim that the United States attacked five Iranian targets first. In retaliation, President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States military hit ten points along the Strait of Hormuz, and in response to that, Iran fired back at eight targets associated with the Fifth Naval Fleet in Port Salman, Bahrain and Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait (where I was stationed in the Air Force). Iran then attacked a Singapore-flagged ship MV Ever Lovely, prompting more retaliatory strikes by the United States.
On 07/07/26, Iran attacked three ships in the strait, and this prompted the United States Department of Treasury to revoke the waiver allowing Iran to sell oil and petrochemicals and caused the military to begin a fresh round of airstrikes against Iranian targets (including in and around the coastal city of Bushehr, which contains a civilian nuclear plant, and Hormozgan and Mahshahr Provinces). In response, Iran retaliated with more bombings of “eight-five” American installations throughout Bahrain and Kuwait.
While the children were (and still are) bickering back and forth with missiles and drones, Americans, who largely do not support the war in Iran, were preparing to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the passage of the Declaration of Independence, which signaled the founding of the United States of America. But, while doing so, pro-Israel commentators did not hesitate to flood our July 4th holiday with posts in solidarity with our “greatest ally.”
United States Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, who had previously said that “without the Jewish foundation, there would not be America” and that Israel and the United States form an “incredible marriage” that will never break up, was ecstatic that Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited the American embassy in Jerusalem on July 4th in order to take away from the spotlight of the momentous occasion of American history and insert an advertisement for the partnership between the United States and Israel. Of course, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who graduated from Cheltenham High School in Pennsylvania (where Mark Levin also graduated), put in his two cents about the alliance and how Independence Day means that Israel and the United States should “stand together” to fight the tyranny of radical Islam. Make America Great Again (MAGA) influencer Laura Loomer and American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) reposted this message to make this one of the centerpieces of the anniversary. We cannot even celebrate our own holiday without having to listen to or read a bunch of pro-Israel propaganda coming from people with large platforms and influential power.
Other pro-Israel commentators (some of which were Israeli citizens) also proceeded to flood social media to convince Americans that Israel was God’s gift to earth and that the partnership between the two countries was worth celebrating on the 250th anniversary of the United States. Some even went further and wanted “fireworks” to rain down on the thousands of attendees of the funeral of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and such an act of violence against an enemy state would have been nothing short of terrorism (if you want violence against an enemy that you claim is violent, you are no better than them). It was sick and pathetic to see Americans praising Israel while we were supposed to be reflecting on American principles and history, and the pro-Israel network is out pushing propaganda on a massive scale because Americans are simply not buying it anymore. Our politicians may still be controlled and are enamored with Israel, but the Netanyahu regime is losing the war of ideas, as the younger generations finally wake up to the reality that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians and dragging the United States into pointless wars for domination in the Middle East.
If you believe that it is farfetched to think these things about Israel, consider some of the new developments on this front. As you may recall, President Trump called Netanyahu a “difficult guy” to work with, and Vice President JD Vance, who claimed that Republicans must leave the laissez faire economic ideas of Milton Friedman and move toward the Alexander Hamilton side of things to make sure that the government provides people with a “living wage” (embracing progressivism and socialism?), said, “I guess my response to them [Israel] would be: What is your exact proposal? You’re a country of nine million people. You can’t just kill your way out of solving every single national security problem that you have” (Netanyahu fired back at Vance and claimed that he still had friends around the world, despite what the vice president said). It would seem that Trump administration officials are realizing that you cannot reason with the Israeli government, but it gets worse.
Not only was Israel sabotaging the peace deal put forth by Trump and Vance by flattening southern Lebanon to the ground (a sticking point of the negotiations), but it was also attempting to assassinate two of Iran’s top negotiators in the deal: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Speaker of the Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The Israeli government was so bent on destroying Iran that it blatantly defied the United States, which is giving billions of dollars to Israel annually, and tried to ensure that Americans remained committed to the war effort. The United States government had to warn Iran through other countries that Israel was about to make the assassination attempts, and Israel is a sad and pathetic excuse for an ally. Yet, our politicians force us to be “married” to that nation (I do not remember being on that altar).
I have written over the months about how Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians (with our tax dollars), but for further evidence, the United Nations (UN) recently released a report (via the UN Human Rights Council’s Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory) showing that 30% of all Palestinians killed from October 2023 through October 2025 were children. You could say: well, that is just the cost of war after Hamas did what it did on October 7th, and collateral damage happens. However, Israel has slaughtered over 72,000 people in Gaza (and climbing), displaced over two million people (kicked them out of their homes), destroyed over 90% of the territory’s buildings, starved a large portion of the population, and killed hundreds of journalists trying to cover what is happening; and the UN report suggested that Israel has deliberately killed children as an effort to demoralize Hamas and the Palestinian people. This is in addition to the over one million people displaced and the thousands murdered in Lebanon, as Israel bombs that country to the ground and destroys entire villages (at least one-third of the population is Christian, so this should be an affront to Americans).
Israel is not a good actor, and Americans should be disturbed by what we must indirectly support through government force (taxation without representation). Even the House of Representative and Senate voted in favor to end the war in Iran, and yet, the Trump administration does not care. Our officials are going against the will of the people and Congress (not that our legislature does its job normally, anyway), and this is a direct violation of the Constitution (Article I Section 8 Clause 11). Only Congress can constitutionally declare war, and the president is only permitted to engage militarily when he has permission to do so (Article II Section 2 Clause 1 commander-in-chief powers do not grant the authority to engage wherever, whenever). Congress should not have to veto the president’s legislative decisions, and this is complete backwards logic (Americans need to go back to school and relearn how the Constitution works).
Regardless, Americans must pay the increased taxes that our overlords have bestowed upon us (including through higher gas prices), and we will continue to have to sacrifice on behalf of Israel. Unless we stand up and put pressure on those in power, we will simply be subjects of the American oligarchy. It is up to us whether we want to liberate ourselves from the tyranny of the Israeli government and its agents within the United States government, and we should declare separation from the Netanyahu regime in the spirit of 1776.
