Like with WWI, WWII, Vietnam, and 9-11, The Trump Administration Seems to be Manipulating Us into War with Venezuela
Tensions between President Donald Trump and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro have been heating up since the United States military deployed thousands of personnel and several ships to the Caribbean Sea, as well as ten fighter jets to Puerto Rico (where Marines are conducting training exercises for the upcoming conflict), and destroyed a Venezuelan boat in international waters. The claim was that this boat was controlled by Tren de Aragua (TdA) and headed for the United States on a drug-smuggling operation. Of course, no evidence of the eleven people killed having been cartel members who were trafficking narcotics has been presented, and furthermore, the United States government has not declared war on Venezuela or gotten congressional authorization to target cartels in military strikes hundreds of miles away from American territory (not to mention that intentionally killing people of a foreign nation in international waters without any judicial proceedings would constitute as a war crime, but as Vice President JD Vance would put it, “I don’t give a shit what you call it.”).
Labelling TdA, Sinaloa Cartel, and Cartel de los Soles as foreign terrorists and calling drug trafficking an emergency does not automatically give the president Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) abilities in South America, and it is inconceivable to think that those who passed that law in 2001 after the September 11 attacks had Venezuelan drug cartels in mind as participants in that horrific event. This just goes to show that governments do nothing but expand power after an emergency declaration, and President Trump is attempting to do just that by utilizing American taxpayer dollars to start yet another war (drug trafficking was not considered an emergency previously, and it would not be beyond the realm of possibility that federal agents have partnered with cartels to smuggle drugs into the United States in order to give justification for bombing Venezuela and other countries).
The president got even more arrogant by saying that Venezuelan aircraft buzzing around defending their territory from the United States’ encroachment near its coast will be “shot down” if they continue flying near deployed vessels (there were two specific incidents where Venezuelan jets soared over American ships). So, the United States gets to deploy ships in South American waters, but Venezuela is not allowed to fly aircraft near those ships? I guess that means that Russia and China have an invitation to fly jets near American coasts and then warn the United States government that it better leave those airplanes alone and not intercept them. I am sure that that would go over well. The hypocrisy is astounding, but the imperialistic bullying that is occurring against Venezuela is even more of a concern.
As I mentioned previously, China has been getting friendlier with Venezuela (and Iran has now agreed to assist Maduro), which means that this conflict could turn into another front in a potential upcoming World War III scenario. The “no new wars” president seems like he has forgotten what he promised his voters, and the geopolitical maneuvering taking place right now seems like a set up for an invasion. Send ships to Venezuela and manipulate that country into firing the first shot, and then, you have the justification that you need to rally Americans around the flag and go to war with the Maduro regime.
Some sort of false flag attack or manipulating the enemy into firing first would not be unprecedented. In fact, during World War I, the German Embassy warned Americans in newspapers that they might be killed if they travel in British ships due to unrestricted submarine warfare, and yet, Americans ignored that warning and boarded the RMS Lusitania. When the ship was sunk, it gave the justification necessary for President Woodrow Wilson to join the war against Germany.
Likewise, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt tried to lure Adolph Hitler into attacking Americans by participating in joint operations with the British military, but when that failed, he resorted to manipulating Japan into attacking. This was done by terminating a commercial treaty, freezing Japanese assets, and placing restrictions and embargos on iron, steel, and aviation motor fuels (economic sanctions). This set the precedent for Great Britain and the Netherlands to follow suit, and when that happened, Japan was cut off from resources to expand its military power. The president, knowing that Japan would attack Pearl Harbor as a response, then deliberately withheld the information so that Americans would be killed and the justification for war would exist.
The Vietnam War started similarly, as American ships were already conducting military operations in the Gulf of Tonkin, and the United States was itching to get involved in another war. The incident started when the Maddox (warship) moved in to assist American patrol boats that had bombed a few islands, and North Vietnamese torpedo boats moved in to defend their territory and chased the Maddox. The American ship fired warning shots at the torpedo boats, which then fired back in response, leading to F-8 Crusader jets eliminating one of the North Vietnamese boats. The following day, the Turner Joy (destroyer ship) was sent as reinforcement to the United States’ bombardment of North Vietnamese defense positions, and the two warships (Maddox and Turner Joy) reported having been attacked with several torpedoes. However, come to find out, that incident never actually occurred, and President Lyndon Johnson omitted key pieces of information when asking Congress for authorization to wage full-scale war in Vietnam (Gulf of Tonkin Resolution).
The 9-11 attacks were no different. The George W. Bush administration was plotting a coup against the Taliban in Afghanistan well before it had the justification to do so. This should be clear with the fact that elements within the United States government not only funneled money between the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the Saudi government, and al Qaeda (including the ISI wiring money to the lead hijacker); but they also allowed al Qaeda access to the federal government’s systems via the Saudi-funded P-Tech software. Additionally, the CIA was tracking the hijackers and allowed them (even pressuring the Saudi government to issue them passports) to enter the country and conduct their operations. Furthermore, military exercises (simulating hijackings) were being conducted simultaneously to confuse personnel and make responding to the real-world incident difficult (almost like stand-down orders to let the attacks occur). Once all of the other many coincidences of that day transpired (read about them here, here, and here), the United States then had the justification to rally Americans around giving up their rights and cheering on endless wars in the Middle East.
The situation in oil-rich Venezuela could be the same situation, as the United States government is seemingly manipulating the Maduro regime into causing some deadly incident (or, since Venezuela has now said that it is increasing its military presence on the coast to battle the cartels, maybe President Trump is engaging in another one of his aggressive negotiation tactics). President Trump is even contemplating conducting airstrikes within Venezuela and straight-up declaring war on the country without Congress’ blessing (this is highly unconstitutional, as Article I is very clear that only Congress has this ability, but conservatives who pretend to be constitutionalists will make up excuses for why it is fine to do this, because, you know, Trump is in office now, or something).
For all of President Trump’s denials of being in the process of regime change in Venezuela, he sure talks a lot about how the Maduro regime is “illegitimate” and the head of a drug-trafficking organization, and he is sure moving his chess pieces around in the Caribbean. The Trump administration is not doing this to stop the flow of drugs into the United States, but rather, this is an excuse to topple the Venezuelan government, just as other presidents have tried to do throughout the last several years. Just like the Islamic terrorists gave the justification for endless wars in the Middle East, the drug trafficking cartels will be the pretext to launch a war in Venezuela (and perhaps Mexico and other places throughout Latin America and the Caribbean). It is the same propaganda, just with a little twist to it to convince those who grew tired of the old narrative.
