Does Anyone Still Believe that American and European Troops Are Not on the Ground in Ukraine?
President Joe Biden began his State of the Union address by comparing himself to Franklin D. Roosevelt and Vladimir Putin to Adolph Hitler, suggesting that the Russian president is on a march of conquest to take over all of Europe and that the only way to stop him is to pour more money into Ukraine and the military-industrial complex. He seemed to be trying to persuade Americans that World War III and Putin’s reign of terror can only be averted if Congress gets its act together and engages in a cold war with Russia, but if Biden really believed that North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) countries were on Putin’s radar next, you would think that the United States would want a hot war with Russia to prevent New Hitler from his imperial ambitions, right? It is almost like he does not even believe his own rhetoric and that there is some other ulterior motive associated with the lack of urgency in stopping Putin (it has been a stalemate for months), and perhaps the wellbeing of government-partnered corporations has something to do with it? Even though we are not participating directly in the conflict (that we know of), the president lied to the public when he said that American troops were not on the ground in Ukraine.
Many of us have been saying that the Biden administration deployed special forces and intelligence operators within Ukrainian territory and have been indirectly engaging in hostilities against Russia, but yet, until recently, we were branded as conspiracy theorists, agents of Putin, and spreaders of disinformation for saying such a thing. In fact, it was not until the leak of classified Pentagon documents by Jack Teixeira that it was confirmed that the United States had fourteen special forces troops working out of the American Embassy in Kiev, but still, even though the federal government never denied the authenticity of the documents, the narrative on Ukraine never changed (and Americans do not care enough about what is happening to force it to change).
Now, even The New York Times cannot deny reality and must admit that American intelligence units have been conducting covert operations since the Obama administration, and especially since the 2022 Russian invasion. Although the article has not been circulating by mainstream commentators or throughout the corporate media nearly as much as it should, the fact that this information has been confirmed by The New York Times is significant. It is possible that the Biden administration is tired of hiding its covert operations and would rather condition the public into believing that such actions were necessary all along and that they need to be ramped up in the future to ensure that Ukraine does not fall to New Hitler (historically, the CIA has had a propaganda-producing partnership with The New York Times, so it is possible that the United States government strategically had this article released in order to prevent a mass public reaction in the future).
Some were aware from independent journalist Jack Murphy that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) were supporting sabotage operations against infrastructure within Russian and Belarussian territory since the Obama administration (the attacks on railways, bridges, fuel depots, military facilities, power lines, and electrical plants were physically carried out by another undisclosed NATO country), and we have known about the United States military coordinating and sharing information with Ukrainian units to target Russian soldiers and generals for some time (this was initially denied as a Russian talking point too), but The New York Times piece outlines even more details and operations.
In fact, the article admits that the United States was essentially using Ukraine as a tool to gather intelligence on Russia (those of us who have been paying close attention already knew that too). In addition to confirming that the CIA was involved in Ukraine’s sabotage and terrorist attacks against Russian infrastructure (terrorism is fine, as long as it is committed by the United States government or its allies, but do not try to commit the same type of actions if you do not fall under one of those categories), which included planting explosives on bridges, there were other purposes for using Ukrainian soldiers as sacrifices to weaken Russia. Since it was difficult and risky to have Americans within Russian territory, the CIA utilized Ukrainian operators to recruit Russian dissidents to become spies for the American Empire, and a vast network of twelve forward operating bases was created in Ukraine. Not only was American intelligence providing Ukrainians with Russian targets and assisting them to avoid Russian attacks on the battlefield, but it was training elite Ukrainian units, which included Unit 2245, to be able to effectively infiltrate Russia, conduct covert operations, and help the American government re-reverse drones and hack Russian encryption systems.
Although the article does not explicitly say that the CIA was involved in overthrowing the democratically-elected Ukrainian government of Viktor Yanukovych (this will be admitted someday, but now is not the time), it did admit that the Obama administration was involved in these “spy wars” and that the United States has been funding and manipulating Ukraine since even before the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014 (often through non-governmental organizations, or NGOs). After Ukrainian intelligence was able to provide evidence that Russia was involved in the destruction of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in 2014, the CIA became confident that it could trust Ukraine enough to provide advanced intelligence. After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Biden administration allowed intelligence sharing that would result in Russian casualties (before the invasion, there was hesitancy to do so).
This relationship has expanded to become a vast network between the CIA, the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), the Dutch Military Intelligence and Security Service, and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU); and under Presidents Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden, the United States government has been a combatant in a secretly-engineered war to weaken Russia. The Obama administration all but unilaterally, without congressional authorization, declared war on Russia, and Americans must now suffer whatever consequences come from that.
Around the time French President Emmanuel Macron suggested that NATO troops may soon need to enter Ukraine in order to keep Putin’s imperialistic ambitions in check and appeared to recruit Lithuania and other nations to such an idea, the Russian-funded network Russia Today (RT), which became banned by European countries and Canada and the United States (done through third party corporations, since the First Amendment prohibits the direct banning of free speech and press, and we know from the Twitter Files that fascist partnerships with social media companies is how the United States government gets around being able to censor unfavorable information), circulated a leak from the German intelligence services, which has been confirmed as authentic, showing that British soldiers are indeed “on the ground” in Ukraine to assist that country with the launching of long-range Storm Shadow missiles. Although we already knew from Teixeira’s Pentagon leak that the British had perhaps fifty special forces troops on the ground (accompanying the fourteen American and fifteen French special forces troops), we now have a confirmation that it goes deeper than even that, and also includes a small number of units to aid in medical training.
Even though Germany is wary of sending Taurus missiles to replace the Storm Shadow ones due to the possible abuse and allowance of Ukraine to fire them into Russian territory, we must remember that the United States and NATO has denied, every step of the way, that it would send certain weapons or equipment to Ukraine because of fear of stirring up the Russians, and then, it happened later on anyway. Therefore, we should not rule out the possibility that the United States and NATO will end up deploying regular troops on the ground to engage directly with Russia.
The House of Representatives (under Mike Johnson) is currently looking for clever new ways to continue funding the growing unpopular war in Ukraine and supporting the military-industrial complex, and new ideas include: the Biden administration sending weapons to Ukraine without express congressional approval (considered part of “Presidential Drawdown Authority funding” passed separately by Congress) and just not replenishing old stockpiles (making the United States’ defense capabilities more vulnerable), seizing Russian assets through sanctions and paying for the war that way (REPO for Ukrainians Act), or applying a loan program to fund nonmilitary operations and equipment (meaning that Ukraine would help foot the bill).
Ultimately, though, it will not matter much, as American politicians will cave into pressures to keep the war machine going and Ukraine funded. At the end of the day, both Republicans and Democrats are tools for keeping the status quo forever wars going and the corporate profits flowing, so it would be a shock if Ukraine funding is cut off permanently by the political theater that is being displayed. If all else fails and the “fascist” Trump-allied Republicans refuse to give in, there will be some new and coincidentally-timed and fabricated or overexaggerated news event that comes out to persuade them that Russian brutality is so bad that it must be combated immediately (such as the Russian space nukes or the death of Alexei Navalny).
If we want the war in Ukraine to end and a diplomatic solution to ensue, we must spread the word to ensure that the sentiments in this country move toward a peaceful end. Just like with Iraq, the Ukraine narrative will eventually shift toward the understanding that the war effort was less beneficial to Americans’ wellbeing and more of an opportunity to manipulate the geopolitical situation in favor of American elites and corporations, but until then, we must speak our minds. Otherwise, we are doomed to repeat the historical loop of failed interventions abroad.
