Censorship is Now Part of the Democratic Party’s Platform:
From the Hunter Biden Laptop to RFK Jr. to Jason Aldean
Currently, censorship is a real issue in this country, and the people in favor of silencing voices have largely come from the progressive side of aisle. It is unbelievable that the Democratic Party (the party claiming to be for democracy and the will of the people) is going through such lengths to eliminate its political rivals and censor those who do not comply with its narrative. Donald Trump is being targeted by politically-motivated indictments, and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is being slandered and having his campaign sabotaged, much like the Party did to Bernie Sanders when he dared challenge Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Of course, the Democratic Party does not come right out and say that it is censoring information, and this is being done discreetly through charges of disinformation or misinformation and by using third party platforms to do the muzzling. These are clever tactics, and as a result, those allying with the Democratic Party can claim that they are not actually censoring speech, but rather, they are just enforcing social media companies’ terms of service and ensuring that harmful speech is eliminated or investigated by the government (investigating hateful or disliked speech is the antithesis of advocating for free speech). It really is a masterful art in our new Orwellian world (I have to hand it to these people, as they know how to sell anti-free speech propaganda to Americans).
Not only did the FBI, which was clearly giving favorable treatment to the Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden campaigns (thus rigging the elections in favor of the Democratic Party, though it seemingly failed in the 2016 election), tell social media companies to be on the lookout for Russian disinformation with the Hunter Biden laptop story (current Secretary of State Antony Blinken seemingly created the misleading letter signed by fifty-one former intelligence officers stating that the laptop had “all the classic hallmarks of a Russian information operation”); but it was actively investigating the laptop and knew that the story was never of Russian origin. The FBI conveniently left that part out as a way to prevent its preferred candidate, Joe Biden, from losing the election. It was a lie on the part of the Bureau and its allies.
However, the FBI was also censoring information in a more general sense. Twitter was threatened with regulations and paid $3.5 million to suppress the laptop story, alternative views on the COVID-19 pandemic, and other conservative and libertarian viewpoints; and Twitter and other companies were instructed which posts and accounts to take down and prevent from mass viewership. Even Donald Trump’s account was removed from Twitter, something that not even Iranian Ayatollah Khamenei faced when he said that he wanted to eradicate Israel; and it is clear from the Twitter Files that a deep partnership developed between the federal government and social media companies when it came to policing information, something that is prohibited by the First Amendment.
Immediately following the July 4, 2023 ruling by Chief United States District Judge for the Western District of Louisiana Terry A. Doughty stating that government agencies and officials are no longer permitted to meet with social media companies (it was weekly at certain points) or require or ask them to take down unfavorable content (something that the First Amendment prohibits), in the spirit of anti-July 4th celebrations, President Biden appealed the decision to the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (New Orleans) in order to allow him to censor speech again. Instead of taking its loses and apologizing to the American people for eliminating their voices during the COVID-19 pandemic and during the 2020 election and onward, the Democratic Party is attempting to solidify censorship as a routine law enforcement tool. To be fair, the Twitter Files did reveal that Donald Trump participated in censorship himself during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially pertaining to grocery store runs and toilet paper, so this is not an entirely partisan issue. However, the Biden administration took censorship to a whole new level.
FBI Director Christopher Wray refused to answer or comment on the issues when put under oath in a House of Representatives hearing, and because the FBI can do what it wants and lie to the American people, having faith that the Bureau is looking out for our best interests is no longer an option. The FBI is now a secret police force of the administration in power, and currently, it serves the Biden administration and the Democratic Party.
Republicans destroyed the Fourth Amendment under President George W. Bush with the Patriot Act, and now, Democrats are destroying the First Amendment by using social media companies as additional agencies of the government to obliterate the ability to freely speak. Members of the Democratic Party would not even vote in favor of a bill to protect free speech, and they did not want to let challenger to Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (RFK Jr.), speak in the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government (led by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan).
Yes, at a hearing about government censorship, members of the Democratic Party attempted to prevent RFK Jr. from spewing hate speech, despite the fact that they completely misinterpreted what he said (they claimed that he was making anti-Semitic and anti-Asian comments, when in reality, he was referencing studies suggesting that COVID-19 may have impacted Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people less than other ethnicities and races, while at a private event that was not meant for public coverage). Democratic members of the committee slandered him by saying that he was endorsing a theory that the virus was genetically engineered to spare Jews and Chinese people while ethnically targeting white and black people (this is ridiculous, as if you listen to his words, that is not what he said at all). RFK Jr.’s own party is trying very hard to eliminate him as a contender against its chosen one, the corrupt and now-senile Joe Biden. To keep the censorship and surveillance regime in place, you need someone in power who is willing to comply with the deep state’s demands, and RFK Jr. and Donald Trump would be far less likely to do that.
Prior to the hearing, a letter signed by 102 members of the Democratic Party tried to block RFK Jr. from testimony, and during the hearing, the completely unreasonable Representatives Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Florida) and Stacey Plaskett (Virgin Islands) led the charge for censorship. Fortunately, they were unsuccessful in silencing his voice.
During the hearing, RFK Jr. said, “The First Amendment was not made for easy speech. It was written for the speech that nobody likes you for.” Other notable points he made were that the word “malinformation” was created to censor people who tell the truth but speak against the narrative, that the Biden administration began censoring him three days after taking power, and that censorship is not compatible with the Democratic Party (well, it is now).
Now, besides politically-targeted indictments against Donald Trump (Hillary Clinton, Mike Pence, Joe Biden, and Hunter Biden are not held to the same standards, so claiming these investigations are about the facts only is ridiculous), the new proposal to bar Trump from ballot access in some states (the Democratic Party in New York already banned the Libertarian and Green Parties from ballot access, so why not implement full ballot manipulation?), and the fact that the FBI and other agencies manipulated the 2020 election narrative in favor of Joe Biden (the equivalent of what the CIA does in overseas elections); so-called progressives utilize the cancel culture tactic to silence individuals who do not comply with the narrative. In doing so, they play into the hands of the corporations that they pretend to oppose. For example, they favored Adidas and JPMorgan Chase over Kanye West, Pfizer over Nicki Minaj, and Spotify over Joe Rogan. With the protests against Anheuser-Busch for promoting ESG, DEI, and CEI credit scores (see my article on the subject for more details), liberals supported corporate power over grassroots activism and ignorantly believed that this was simply about transgender figure Dylan Mulvaney. Conservatives and libertarians are fighting against the corrupt system and corporate agendas being pushed from the top down (notably from investment giant BlackRock), while progressives are fighting against free speech and those who do not comply with their standards.
This concept was evident with the new Jason Aldean song and video “Try That in a Small Town.” Because his production crew (not Aldean himself) chose to utilize the Maury County Courthouse as a backdrop, as crews for Miley Cyrus, Mario Lopez, and countless other musicians and Lifetime movie actors did; Country Music Television (CMT) withdrew the country singer’s video and attempted to cancel him. The building happened to be the site of a 1927 lynching of a black man and a 1946 race riot, so Aldean was charged with promoting lynching. However, if the site was such a problem to the people trying to cancel the video, why did they not have the same objections to other videos and movies produced there? It is a deliberate targeting of someone who has an opinion that liberals do not like. As stated earlier, their solution is to silence people instead of debating on the merits of speech.
Of course, CMT’s parent company, Paramount Global, is owned by the largest investment firms in the country (BlackRock, Vanguard, State Street, and Berkshire Hathaway, all of which are major shareholders in almost all of the Fortune 500 companies, from the propagandistic media to Big Pharma to the defense contractors), so it is not surprising that the corporation was eager to adhere to the social credit scores. Everyone is a racist nowadays, and everything apparently has a connection to white supremacy, so we have to go after anyone who does not toe the line. Even Roseanne Barr has been barred from her show and from having public opinions.
Aldean’s music video also shows news footage of Antifa and Black Lives Matter protesters vandalizing shops and destroying buildings, which of course is factual and actually occurred (is this malinformation?). Hip hop artists are permitted to endorse violence, but a country artist who does not adhere to the correct narrative is not allowed to say that people in small towns defend their own from criminals of all races. This double standard shows that it is not violence that progressives have a problem with. It is speech, and speech alone.
Prior to the Donald Trump and COVID-19 era, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) used to actually defend all people’s liberties, regardless of party affiliation or political views (how the organization can now cry about “my body, my choice” while advocating for forced vaccinations and masking is beyond me). It even defended Nazis and members of the Ku Klux Klan, even though their views were despicable, as the organization thought that everyone should have the freedom of speech and that the government picking and choosing who can talk would be dangerous. Today’s Democratic Party no longer believes this, and censorship has become part of its platform. The free exchange of ideas is a thing of the past.
It is not hopeless, though. Progressives and members of the Democratic Party (and the organized authoritarian movement that I refer to as the Left) are currently misled. Many of them genuinely believe that hate speech is dangerous and that views that challenge our institutions and experts can have fatal consequences. They have been hypnotized by authoritarianism, but they can be woken up. Perhaps some day we can join hands with them and fight the system instead of each other.
