As the World Waits to See If a Battle for the Strait of Hormuz Ensues, Americans Must Prepare to Suffer from the War in Iran
As we pass the first day of Spring and the death toll and gas prices keep climbing, there is no end in sight for the unconstitutional, unjust, and unpopular war in Iran. As the battle for the Strait of Hormuz waits just over the horizon, the world’s economy is holding on by a string. The elites are the only ones who benefit from this, and Americans, who are struggling to get by paying higher prices, will inevitably suffer from any prolonged war.
As the mainstream media parrots the phrase, “short-term pain for long-term gain,” in a “fifteen days to flatten the curve” or “staying home saves lives” sort of COVID-19-like manner, the International Energy Agency (IEA), acting like the World Health Organization (WHO) during the pandemic, has issued guidance to governments about forcing or incentivizing people to stay home while the war ensues in order to save energy and oil. These new energy “lockdowns” would include having people work from home (not commuting), lowering speed limits, enacting carpooling policies, and reducing public transit and airline traffic. In other words, governments, including the Donald Trump administration, will soon ask Americans to sacrifice their daily routines and summer plans for the “collective good.” Where have we heard that before? Oh right, during the pandemic, we were told to stop being so selfish and just stay home to save lives or not kill grandma, and now, with what seems eerily similar, we are being asked to do the same type of thing with the war in Iran. Really it is just so that the military-industrial complex and global elites can screw over the American people and profit off of tragedy and conflict, and this is no different from when the pharmaceutical-industrial complex made record profits during the pandemic at our expense, while governments implemented experimental totalitarian policies that could be replicated in the future as needed. If you think that this is farfetched, the United Kingdom (UK) is already in the process of reducing speed limits to fifty miles per hour and rationing fuel, and if countries are considering this now, it is only a matter of time before we see the energy lockdowns hit domestically here in the United States.
Despite the fact that President Trump campaigned on lowering costs from the Joe Biden-era inflation and staying out of foreign wars, and he has done the complete opposite; the WHO has warned that it preparing for a “worst-case scenario” where the United States or Israel (most likely Israel) will use a nuclear weapon in Iran because of the disaster that has been taking place. If this happens and nuclear war erupts, the fallout and consequences will be catastrophic for the people of the world that would otherwise have no beef with each other outside of government intervention. The Biden administration brought us closer to World War III when it supplied weapons and money to Ukraine, targeted Russian positions for the Ukrainian military, damaged the Nord Stream Pipelines, sent in special forces as “advisors,” and sanctioned Russia; but now, the Trump administration is following in its predecessor’s footsteps by dragging us closer to apocalypse with the blind following of Benjamin Netanyahu, king of the West.
In addition to nuclear threats, Americans are now being warned about drone swarms off the coast of California and sleeper cells that could be activated within the United States to commit terrorist attacks against citizens, and while these threats may be overexaggerated and utilized as propaganda to rally Americans around hatred of Iran, the fact of the matter is that this would not even be an issue if Trump and Netanyahu did not begin the war in the first place. They are the most responsible for what has happened and what will happen to American taxpayers, consumers, and victims. One of several terrorist attack attempts since the war in Iran began was done in Michigan, where a man drove into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield (near Detroit). Although nobody was killed, the background of the man is interesting, as his brothers (one of which was a commander in Hezbollah) and other family members were killed by the Israeli military in southern Lebanon (where Israel has displaced almost the entire population and may seize the land for itself). This; as well as the terrorist attacks in Austin, Texas, which killed three Americans, and the shooting at Old Dominion University in Virginia; are likely just the beginning of attacks that would not be a problem if the United States government minded its own business and stayed out of other nations’ affairs (particularly the entangling alliance with Israel). Foreign policy blunders that result in Americans being vulnerable to attacks because of the foolishness forced upon us by government is what we call “blowback.”
There are also allegedly Iranian cyber hackers ready to cause online disruptions of Americans’ lives. The first such cyberattack was against Michigan-based Stryker Corporation, where 200,000 devices across seventy-nine countries were wiped of data. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has claimed that it seized the website of online hacking group Handala, which allegedly committed the act as retribution for an Israeli and American airstrike that killed over 100 people, but this does not mean that other Iranian-linked groups cannot do the same type of thing. Really, the Trump administration is making Americans less safe, as this threat was not an issue before the war began.
It is not just physical threats that Americans must worry about, and the federal government is constantly attempting to suspend our constitutional rights, especially during times of emergencies and wars. As I have written about on several occasions (including here and here), there is a concerted effort to restrict free speech in the United States under the guise of protecting Jews from online hate. Progressives and liberals tend to view hate speech against certain classes of Americans as unprotected by the Constitution, which, of course, is absurd; but now, it is being expanded by conservatives (go figure) to eliminate politicians and officials who criticize the secular state of Israel. Congressmen Thomas Massie, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Jamaal Bowman have been recent examples of the Israeli lobby working (with loads of cash) to ruin the political careers of principled America-first candidates; but Tucker Carlson has been one of the favorite targets too. It is so bad that Carlson now believes (hopefully he is not misleading the public) that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Department of Justice (DoJ) are preparing criminal charges against him for “acting as an agent of a foreign power” (the irony is that many politicians and commentators act on behalf of Israel but do not register as foreign agents). It would not at all be surprising that an American who challenges the pro-Israel narrative is being targeted, as he has been the subject of government ire during the Trump and Biden administrations for his dissent on the topics of the Ukraine war and January 6th, but all Americans should be outraged and stand up against tyranny in government (though many liberals will not because they hate him for being conservative in other areas, or a “conspiracy theorist”).
Director of National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent also sparked controversy when he suggested that Iran was not an “imminent” threat to Americans and that Israel pressured the United States into attacking. The typical Israel-first (not America-first) crowd, like Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro, Glenn Beck, Dan Bongino (who has betrayed the American people by switching sides) and others, went on the offensive and tried to paint Kent as a crazy conspiracy theorist and an anti-Semite (typical liberal strategy of calling people names without being able to have a nuanced conversation, and this is no different from when liberals called conservatives who opposed the COVID-19 narrative “selfish anti-scientific grandma killers”). Now, Kent is being investigated by the FBI and DoJ for leaking “sensitive” intelligence (but Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden were cleared of this because they play ball with the system), and although some claim that these charges predate the resignation, it very unlikely that any investigation would have occurred had Kent not stepped down (of course, the DoJ can go after Kent, but it cannot muster up the energy to even take a look at those connected with Jeffrey Epstein). It makes the Trump administration look bad by having a high-level official quit over moral concerns about the Iran war, so any reasonable authoritarian government would want to eliminate the threat. Again, liberals are no fans of Kent’s “conspiracy theory” ways, so the outrage about this is stunted, unfortunately. No Americans should accept someone being targeted politically and having intelligence agencies dig up someone’s past, via the surveillance state, to find some type of crime (of which, everyone commits several felonies within their lifetime without even knowing it due to the unreasonable amount of laws on the books) to rid the world of another whistleblower (I even defended Trump when he was politically targeted by the Democratic Party prior to the 2024 election, though looking back, it now appears that this all may have been staged in order to prop Trump up as the victim and into the White House).
It is not just Kent who is being targeted. In fact, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Brendan Carr (remember the Jimmy Kimmel controversy?) has suggested that his agency will revoke the licenses of broadcast stations (which are owned by television networks) that criticize the Trump administration over the handling of the war in Iran, claiming that the stations are lying or misleading the public on events. The immorality of making a supposedly free press and free society need licenses to operate aside, this is a direct threat to free speech and the First Amendment. This is what authoritarian societies do: censor information or restrict reporting in order to make coverage favorable to the regime.
This is not acceptable in the United States, and it gets worse when you consider that David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance is set to take over Warner Bros. Discovery, which is the parent company of Cable News Network (CNN). Secretary of Defense (War) Pete Hegseth cheered on the merger and is happy that CNN will now fall in line with the administration’s talking points. This consolidation of the media may be good for federal officials, but it harms the American people’s ability to gain knowledge of world events (though, all of the mainstream media and almost every product and service that Americans consume are ultimately owned by BlackRock and Vanguard at the top, anyway, so everything that you read and hear stems from state propaganda in some capacity, as these two mega corporations partner with the federal government).
This comes after David Ellison’s father, Larry Ellison, acquired TikTok’s operation in the United States, and the elder Ellison is an ardent Zionist who wants to quell anti-Israel speech. Israel-firster Ted Cruz suggested that saying “Christ is King” is anti-Semitic, and although this should be offensive to Christians (Christ is absolutely King), it made virtually no impact, as a majority of Christians still eat up the pro-Israel propaganda. This is what Americans can expect in the upcoming weeks and months: increased pressure to label critics of the Israeli government as “Jew-haters,” when in reality, we just want our country back from the occupation that is the Israeli lobby and blackmail network that force our hand in foreign policy.
Then, you had His Majesty Benjamin Netanyahu say that “Jesus Christ has no advantage over Genghis Khan” in destroying evil, in an effort to justify taking drastic measures and committing genocide and atrocities across the Middle East (if you pretend that you are the victim, you can justify evil against your enemies). How many Christians can still admire this tyrant is beyond my comprehension, and the fact that Americans blindly accept him dragging us into conflict with Arab (and Persian) states shows lack of understanding amongst the populace. As a society, we have been conditioned to accept Israel as a necessary ally and a victim of genocide in the Middle East, when in reality, Israel is aggressive toward its neighbors.
On the war front itself, President Trump is now attempting to claim that he did not know that Iran would retaliate against other Middle East countries, in an effort to save face and keep the Gulf states from kicking the United States out of military bases in the region. However, it was also reported that officials did indeed warn him about that possibility, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio spilled the beans by suggesting that Israel was going to attack Iran, with or without the United States’ help, thus leading to inevitable retaliation of bases throughout the Middle East (Israel dragged the United States into conflict with Iran, and the alliance is a liability). It is not surprising that the president would lie to the public to try to justify the disaster that is the war.
In further escalation, Israel, seemingly without notifying the Trump administration (though, with the lying, who really knows who knew what), bombed South Pars gasfield in Iran, prompting Iran to retaliate by striking Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar and Samref Refinery in Saudi Arabia. The tit-for-tat strikes against oil infrastructure sent gas prices skyrocketing yet again, and President Trump has asked (not demanded) that Israel tone it down a little and refrain from hitting civilian targets. The president also defended Qatar, which is odd being that pro-Trump commentators claim that those who criticize the president are paid or influenced by Qatar. Yet, it almost seems as if pro-Trump forces are actually influenced by Qatar (conundrum?).
President Trump then gave Iran an ultimatum: open the Strait of Hormuz or face the destruction of civilian power plants (yes, let us take it out on the poor people who happen to live within the borders of Iran). The Strait of Hormuz, where one-fifth of the world’s oil flows through, is open only to non-belligerents in the war (those not supporting the United States or Israel), and Iran said that if the United States targets civilian power plants, it would then retaliate by hitting the Gulf states’ energy and desalination plants, which would have devastating effects on people’s livelihoods (causing many civilians to not have access to drinking water). Iran has proven that it has intermediate-range missile capabilities because it launched one at the United Kingdom-United States joint military base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean (roughly 2,500 miles, or 4,000 kilometers, from Iran), and some are crying that Iran lied about its capabilities and argue that Joe Kent was wrong and that Iran was always an imminent threat (Iran would not have launched the missile if Israel and the United States had not started the war, so this proves nothing about impending actions).
The president’s threats may have been nothing more than a bluff, as he has postponed any attacks on civilian infrastructure in Iran, though he keeps making bizarre claims that Iran is willing to negotiate a deal and wants the war to end. However, the Iranian government (particularly the Foreign Ministry office) refuted those claims and argued that there was never any direct talk of agreeing to a ceasefire or deal (though, Iran may be in communication with Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey, via back channels, to possibly feel out some negotiations). This comes as the United States military is deploying roughly 2,200 Marines, 2,300 sailors, and 2,000 paratroopers (bringing the total to almost 7,000 additional troops) in preparation for what could be a ground assault into Iran to destroy power plants or capture Kharg Island (this strategic oil hub fifteen miles off of the Iranian coast would be difficult to hold, as Iran could easily keep bombardments going).
It is difficult to know if President Trump is serious about ending the war, or whether he is playing more games on behalf of the global elites (or just trying to manipulate the market to lower prices). Is it possible that he realizes that the war was useless and more costly than originally thought? Was the seemingly random Valero oil refinery explosion in Port Arthur, Texas (where 435,000 barrels of oil are processed per day) an attack by Iran or an Iranian proxy? Are the mysterious meteorites found falling from the sky near Houston (accompanied by loud booms) and Ohio missiles from a foreign actor? Although this may be a stretch, there would be incentive for the government to hide this from its citizens, and having the United States homeland attacked under the president’s watch would be embarrassing, to say the least. Either way, whether there is any validity to these conspiracy hypotheses, the war is detrimental to the livelihoods of Americans, and we should demand an end to it.
